Microcosm // 3 (2023)

The seemingly empty space inside what we call the ‘White Cube’ fascinates me. After closer inspection I realised the ‘White Cube’ is mostly about the walls. And each time I would visit an exhibition I would look at the beautifully imperfect floors. Explore them and you’ll discover all kinds of textures, colours, scratches, cracks and dirt. Traces that reveal something about time, use and (human) presence. These ‘irregularities’ seem to resemble the landscapes as we experience them in daily life.

This little robot wanders through these microscopic landscapes. It explores the terrain and takes microscopic images which are then analysed and compared to satellite imagery. This process happens in realtime and emphasises the similar characteristics in our surroundings on micro and macro level.
